My First One Room Challenge - The Grandmillennial Powder Room Renovation Reveal is Here

Alright, here it is, folks! My Better Homes & Gardens One Room Challenge room reveal -- It’s finally finished. My mix of old and new - my art deco, Dorothy Draper-esque, granny chic, grandmillennial, maximalist, neo-traditional powder room renovation is done!

There’s been a lot of ups and downs with this #oneroomchallenge project, from the leaking toilet to the tardy faucet. But, I think i’m finally happy with how this came together. This room was always on my mind as a “To-Do” but always got swept under the rug since it’s a smaller space that isn’t seen as often.

Everything on the walls (art, plates, mirror and antique scone) came from my favorite local estate sale spot, you know who you are! (Wink, wink.)

Bamboo cordless blinds from Amazon replaced the old cafe curtains.

It reminds me of my mother and Aunt Pam -- The designers in my life. Both who have a keen eye for design and work in the industry. Both of them use brass in powder rooms and i’ve always loved that. I just love the detail on the paper holder I picked from @anthropologie. And the faucet that finally showed… I love it even more! It's another Amazon find.

Inspired by the hexagon tiles in my childhood home and a perfect fit for the age of this house, circa 1925. We went with a silver grout color, a very very light gray.

The green. One of my favorite colors of all time. The hand painted pattern on the walls was inspired by my love of animal print and all the unique and abstract wallpapers inspired by those patterns. I was especially inspired by Mad Cap Cottage’s Mill Reef Palm and the always classic Le Touche from Brunschwig & Fils.

I went with a traditional style brass scone and changed out the white shades it came with for rattan/wicker shades I found online at Amazon. The texture really punches up the fixture. What a huge difference a shade can make!

I kept the original mid century vintage piece and updated the color with one that I mixed up myself with my friend Tracie. We tried several colors but ended up not happy with any of them until we added some Charleston Green paint I had leftover from painting our exterior doors. The darker hue is perfect!

Let me upgrade ya! I added a modern sink, brass fixtures, and Carrera marble backsplash with brass detail to add a touch of modern glamour. My favorite part might be the antique French brass knob from @emtek_products that I picked up from Bella Bath and Hardware here in Asheville, NC. (Go give them a visit if you're in the marketing for some stunning hardware. You won't be disappointed. I promise!)
